“Waitabit…take your time”

Waitabit Creek had left us pretty disheveled. The mosquitoes were relentless. Going for a wee, swatting hysterically – mid flow – is not a charming sight nor a very forgiving situation to be in. A building, quiet resentment towards one another had bubbled up between Axel and I, only interrupted by full on, irrational rage […]

6 tips on staying safe around bears…

As soon as we left the arrivals hall in Vancouver we went to hire a car and charged straight for the US border. Overnighting in Vancouver is EXPENSIVE, so we were keen to get to the States as we had 4 days to kill before the bikes were arriving from Bogota. We made it as […]

Shipping Shambles

Decision was made. We were getting out of South America. We had had it with latino promises and “Despacito” played at full volume. At first we toyed with the idea of going to Mexico or Cuba, but after thorough research, we opted for North America – Canada to be precise. We had sent off countless […]

Words of wisdom from those who've done it!

The idea of travelling round the world had come to me one day in March that year, out of the blue. It came not as a vague thought or wish but as a fully formed conviction. The moment it struck me I knew it would be done and how I would do it. Why I thought immediately of a motorcycle I cannot say. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. Throw off the bow lines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that.

To roam the roads of lands remote…

Welcome to Venture The Horizon with Gaby & The Fox! I am truly excited to share the adventures ahead on this upcoming journey.                I am sure the road will be paved with excitement, beauty and…erm…potholes. But that’s what adventure is about, isn’t it? The times when we are tested and challenged are the times when we grow. And that is, for me, what this experience is all about.

Venturing out of the comfort zone and into new horizons.
